I was born in Akko and though I have lived abroad, this town remains the only place where I feel entirely at home and I take great pride in its successes. In 1985, I established an after-school club in the declining Wolfson Neighbourhood which I ran voluntarily each day after work.
The Clore Israel Foundation became interested in this work resulting in the establishment of the Sir Charles Clore Jewish-Arab Community Centre.
In 1999, I became the full-time director and my aim for the Centre has always been and remains to provide high quality, low cost activities for the children and women of Akko.
All are welcome to participate, regardless of their religion, ethnicity or ability to pay. I am delighted by the knowledge that the children who have been active members of our Centre have grown into responsible citizens of Israel, people who appreciate the importance of giving back to their local community and to society in general. I am so grateful for the support and kindness we receive from donors abroad and I am always pleased to welcome friends to our Centre when they are visiting Israel.
